Amidst the censorship controversy threatening to undo the work of the makers and actors of the film, Udta Punjab could release on July 15, a good one month after its scheduled release date of June 17. The film deals with the dark issue of substance abuse in the agrarian state of Punjab and has been under the Censor Board’s lens over the repeated use of the word ‘Punjab’ as the Board feels it might tarnish the image of the state.
Censor Board has already tried nipping the film by ordering its makers to initiate over 90 cuts, including deleting the word ‘Punjab’ from the title.
