Many of us have grown up listening to epic songs from iconic musicals. Their catchy tunes, memorable lyrics and enduring stage performances, never seem to grow old. To celebrate the legacy of musicals, The Bangalore Chorus will perform songs adapted from the best of Andrew Lloyd Webber – among them, Cats, Phantom of the Opera, Joseph & the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Starlight Express, Aspects of Love, and more. They will also do adaptations of showstoppers from My Fair Lady, Les Miserables, Oliver Twist, Lion King, Mamma Mia, and other well-known Broadway musicals. What’s a show without a song and dance? Both children and adults will be jumping in and out of costumes, in choreographed dance sequences and mini acts, to transport audiences into the captivating world of each musical. There will be full choral numbers, duets, small groups. An equally talented live band will accompany the singers for all four shows. “The idea of starting the Bangalore Childrens Chorus (BCC) came from my experience that children, given an opportunity, can shine and make a difference, not only in their lives, but in the lives of those around them”, admits Dr Maya Mascarenhas, the Chief Inspiration and Director of BCC. To give talented young children early exposure to singing together, and showcase their talent to Bangalore, Maya, along with colleague Judith Roby Bidapa resolved to make this choir happen.
