Wife of TN Minister Senthil Balaji files Habeas Corpus plea in Madras High Court

Tamil Nadu Minister V Senthil Balaji was arrested in a money laundering case filed against him by the Enforcement Directorate. He complained of uneasiness and chest pain and was taken to the Government Medical College, Omandur, Government Estate in Chennai.

Meanwhile S.Megala, wife of the Minister, has moved a writ of Habeas Corpus before the Madras High Court against her husband’s arrest. The matter was mentioned this morning before a bench of Justices M. Sindar and R Sakthivel by Senior Advocate NR Elango who stated that the arrest was done without any notice or summons.
The court directed the petitioner to get the case numbered and mention it again at 1.30 p.m.
The Minister was arrested after being questioned by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case that related to the year 2011 to 2015 when he was transport minister in the AIADMK government before he joined the DMK.
