Women in Japan are forced to wear high heels, stockings and make up for work. This has irked many women activists and they have raised protests against workplace harassment. Japanese women took to social media to raise their protest.
Many women have hurt themselves by wearing heels. Activists have submitted papers to the Labour Ministry calling the dress code as power harassment. Over 31,000 people have signed an online petition against the code. Some women have also complained that they were forced to wear contact lenses instead of specs to work. All these are against the gender equality rules. The women have formed a #KUTOO Movement and it has swelled into a viral outcry.
