An 86 year old grandmother bagged the title of ”Miss Holocaust Survivor” in an annual beauty pageant held in Israel. This pageant is specifically held to honour women who survived Nazi attacks. It is believed that around 6 million Jews were killed by the Nazis.
There were ten contestants from ages 79 to 90. They had their hair styled and donned make-up and fashionable gowns. These brave women lost their youth during the second world war but went on to build new lives in Israel.
The pageant was not held last year due to the coronavirus pandemic. This year’s winner Salma Steinfield was born in Romania and survived Nazi attacks before shifting base to Israel in the year 1948.
The contest is held to show these women who went through such a horror that they are loved and appreciated.
