A 85 year old lady named Rathnambal came all the way from her native town in Tiruvarur district to see DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi who is ailing. She was stranded near Adyar and some kind people guided her to the Gopalapuram residence.
When Stalin got to know that an old woman from his father’s village was waiting outside, he received her with warmth and served her some refreshments. She was then given some money to return home and a party worker was deputed to help her to reach the Koyambedu bus terminus.
