The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has announced the nominations for this year’s International Emmy Awards in various categories and a few brilliant Indian web shows have made it to the list. Looks like it’s the season of awards and international recognition for Indian web series streaming on OTT platforms.
The popular Prime Video’s Four More Shots Please! and Netflix crime drama Delhi Crime has been nominated for ‘Best Comedy’ and ‘Best Drama Series’ respectively. Arjun Mathur who played Karan Mehra, a gay wedding planner in Made in Heaven has been nominated in the ‘Best Performance By An Actor’ category.
Zoya Akhtar’s Made in Heaven created quite a stir with its honest and powerful narrative of India’s wedding business and the taboos associated with the institution of marriage. Delhi Crime, directed by Indo-Canadian filmmaker Richie Mehta, is a research-based narrative of the horrific Delhi gang-rape case that shook the entire nation. Four More Shots Please! on the other hand, has really captured the audience with its witty and female-centric storytelling, fabulous costumes, and an ensemble cast.
