Superstar Rajni’s 2.0 which has set the cost registers ringing all over, has been gearing up for a major China release. China-based distribution house HY Media had acquired the Chinese dubbing rights of India’s costliest film ‘2.0’ starring Superstar Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar. The movie was planned to be released in the title Robot 2.0: Resurgence in China by HY Media.
The latest report states that HY Media is planning to stop the release of 2.0 in China, as their previous Indian release in China, the Akshay Kumar starrer Padman was not a commercial success, and besides, at the same time they had planned 2.0, Disney’s The Lion King is also releasing. Hence to avoid huge losses due to the clash, it is said that the team is planning to avoid the release. An official announcement on the status of 2.0’s China release is expected soon.
A sequel to Shankar’s 2010 blockbuster ‘Enthiran’, ‘2.0’ has been produced and was released in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi on November 29, 2018. HY Media is planning to release the film in more than 47,000 3D screens in China. If the film scores well at the China box office, chances are quite high to touch 1000 crore mark. The film, which features Rajinikanth in three different ‘avatars’, also stars Akshay Kumar, Amy Jackson, Adil Hussain and Sudhanshu Pandey. Akshay Kumar, making his southern debut, plays the antagonist. Rajinikanth plays a scientist and a robot. He also appears as a microbot, dubbed 3.0, which was one of the major surprise elements.
