1K Fast track courts need to be set up

The Law Ministry has estimated that around 1000 fast track courts needs to be set up to try cases related to rape of women and children. This would strengthen the infrastructure for better investigation and swift prosecution. This would entail an expenditure of Rs 767.23 crores.

The Central Government will have to bear the expense of Rs 474 crores. This scheme is part of the ordinance promulgated to award death penalty for raping girls below 12 years.
