A 12 year old girl from Puducherry had gone with her father for a darshan at the Sabarimala temple. She was stopped by the women police. Her Aadhaar card was checked and her age was found to be 12. She was stopped from proceeding further.
Her father and her other relatives who accompanied her proceeded to the temple after they were briefed about the current situation in Sabarimala. The State and temple precincts had witnessed protests by right wing outfits and BJP workers last year after the LDF government decided to implement the verdict of the Supreme Court which allowed women of all ages into the shrine to offer prayers. The government is exercising caution to prevent any untoward incidents.
