‘0’ to be prefixed from landlines to all mobiles from January 1, 2021

The Department of Telecom (DoT) has issued a circular stating that all subscribers have to prefix ‘0’ before dialing any mobile number from their landline device from January 1, 2021. It has accepted the recommendations made by Trai dated May 29th this year.

There will be an announcement that will be played in case a subscriber dials a mobile number from a landline phone without prefixing ‘0’. DoT has given all telecom service providers time till January 1 to implement the new system.
